NTR Mahanayakudu Review:
Krish peps up the second part of the biopic with pace in the narration. Emotions are striking unlike in Kathanayakudu.
First half focuses on NTR’s rise to power. His confrontations with Indira Gandhi are intense. After he assumes office as CM, the film drops a bit. It again picks up as political drama of villains begin. Sentimental scenes with wife are touching.
It is more a family drama than political drama. Krish avoided controversies and emphasizes on NTR’s glory. Chandrababu Naidu is showcased as angry young man to woo mass public. The film serves the purpose of political propaganda as well with yellow flags flashing every now and then.
Balakrishna is flawless as NTR. He fits the bill in political NTR more than as hero NTR of Kathanayakudu. Balayya’s mannerisms and dialogue diction is also to a T. Sachin Khedekar is decent as Nandedla. Vidya Balan moves us to tears with her performance. Rana steals the show in second half. Vennela Kishore, Bharat Reddy and others are apt in their roles.
Music by MM Keeravani gives retro vibes of 80s. It compliments the emotional content of the scenes. Cinematography is equally good. Sai Madhav Burra’s dialogues are power packed.
Bottom-line: NTR Mahanayakudu – Better half & better impact
