Central HRD Ministry has issued a new order formulating guidelines to regulate the teaching subjects and weight of school bags in accordance with the Government of India instructions.
The weight of school bags for students of classes I and II should not exceed 1.5 kg, while the school bag of students of class III to V should weigh between 2 kg to 3 kg.
The prescribed weight limit of school bags for each class have to be abided by schools of different states and union territories across the country.
According to the order, class I and II students shouldn’t be given any homework.
Students should not be asked to bring additional books, extra materials thereby exceeding the weight limit as per the directive.
