Vunnadi Okate Zindagi Story:
Abhi (Ram) & Vasu (Sri Vishnu) are close friends since childhood. They are emotionally very much attached. Abhi turns a musician while Vasu goes to Delhi to pursue his higher studies. Abhi accidentally meets doctor Maha (Anupama) who aspires to be a singer. Both get closer and eventually fall in love with each other. Twist in the tale arises as Abhi comes to know that Maha is relative of Vasu and their family want both of them to get married. Will love create turbulence in their friendship? Screenplay:
The film is youthful entertainer set on friendship and triangle love story backdrop. It is made into a musical as protaganist being a guitarist and singer. Film begins with over dramatic childhood episode. First half appears slow paced and predictable. Director took convenient time to establish friendship of lead roles. With a touching interval twist story picks up pace. Second half has some fun and cheerful moments between friends and new characters entering. However, the film again goes into same mode as first half towards pre-climax. Climax is heavy and heartful. Some repeated episodes and emotions make it weary over a period. Too much melodrama looks unrealistic.
What’s good:
Look and feel of the movie is good with decent production values. Some touching dialogues will remain for long. Climax episode is well made and leaves an impact. Some gigs, touching moments with good performances makes it a decent watch.
What’s not:
Such youthful friendship and love dramas need to be backed with great music. Vunnadi Okate Zindagi falls in bracket of films like Premadesam and Happy Days. But the point to be noted is that those film are musically hit even before release.
Performances
Ram’s new look is refreshing. He gives a decent performance balancing the shades as a thug in first half and matured guy in the later. Sri Vishnu delivers a subtle performance in sympathetic role. Comedy by Priyadarshi brings some laughs. Anupama Parameswaran is amazing. She leaves audience spellbound with her performance in one of the lengthy emotional scene. Lavanya Tripathi is surprise package, thumbs up for her interesting comical role that evoked fun with her sidekick named Kanuka.
Technical:
Background score by Devi Sri Prasad is very good but songs are just passable. Songs with same sounding vocals played spoilsport. Cinematography is cool and fresh in exploring exotic locales of Vizag and Ooty. Editing should have been crisp as the film appears lengthy and dragged.
First half is set in Vizag scenic locations. Kishore Tirumala’s obsession with beach and lighthouse is seen again like in Nenu Sailaja.
Bottom-line: Vunnadi Okate Zindagi is about friendship over love
