Thugs of Hindostan full movie review and rating

Thugs of Hindostan Story:

Story is set in early nineteenth century, in British ruling India. King of Raunakpur is killed by British. Princess Safira(Fatima Sana Sheikh) and army chief Khudabaksh(Amitabh Bachchan) escape and turn rebellions. British are on hunt for both of them. They employ Firangi(Aamir Khan), a tricky guy to track down Safira and Khudabaksh. How Firangi finds Safira and Khudabaksh and helps British nab them forms the story.

Thugs of Hindostan Review:

Thugs of Hindostan is a periodic drama set pre-Independence era. The film is set in an ambience similar to Pirates of Caribbean.

The first half of the film captivates with visual grandeur and technical brilliance. Galaxy of stars including Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan makes it an interstellar exciting.

However, as the film progresses one develops a feeling of nausea with despair and jittery looming in. The film stretches too far with characters wandering aimlessly thereby making audience wonder as if lost in maze desperately looking at the exit waiting for the end if not spent for ticket. Nevertheless, the film is visually extravagant. The soulless story and sloppy screenplay played spoilsport. There is no thrilling aspect or emotional connect to drive the film.

Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan’s larger than life images could only keep the interest for a while. Big B has a decent role compared to Khan who appears as a clown. Katrina Kaif’s gushing gyrations entertains now and then. Fatima Sana Shaik is pretty good, infact the story revolves round her character.

Director Vijay Krishna Acharya picks a silly concept and presents it on a lavish platter in a lackadaisical manner. Action episodes are well choreographed. VFX and sound effects are decent. Cinematography is top-notch. Music is not upto the mark.
