Supreme Court’s Statement on National Anthem in Cinema Halls

National Anthem

The Supreme Court of Indian on Tuesday made interesting statement on playing of national anthem before the screening of the movie in cinema malls. A bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Mishra said this is not mandatory. In November 2016, the Supreme Court had ordered all the cinema halls in the country to play national anthem.

Post this order, several incidents such as people getting arrested for not standing up for the national anthem were reported. This created a huge controversy. Finally after 13 months, a new bench has modified the decision.
