Geetha Govindam Story
Govind (Vijay) works as a college lecturer. He dreams of finding ideal, caring girl to get married. He meets Geeta on a bus journey and likes her. Going by his friend’s advice, Govind flirts with her.
Geetha assumes that he’s a playboy and keeps bad opinion on him. Her brother (Subbaraj) wants to find the guy who misbehaved with her and kill him. Govind falls in a tricky situation as his sister gets engaged to none other than Geeta’s brother.
Govind repents for what had happened and wants to convince Geeta that he’s not that nasty fellow. In his bid to appease Geeta, Govind obliges to her pompous commands and bears her insults so that she wouldn’t tell her brother that it is him and that his sister’s wedding doesn’t get disturbed. How Geeta is cleared off her misunderstandings and accepts Govind’s love forms the story.
Geetha Govindam Review:
Geetha Govindam is romantic comedy with family drama. The film is made on lean plot of misunderstanding. Screenplay too is not any novel. Narration reminds us of Ala Modalaindi. Chemistry between the lead pair plays the key role in driving the film. Though the conflict point is simple that it doesn’t pump up heavy emotions, perhaps, it has lot of scope in evoking fun and pinching romance.
First half is lively with kick ass comedy as everything hero does turns embarrassing for him. Cute scenes of petty quarrels make it further interesting. Second half gets lethargic with repeated scenes. However, it is uplifted with additional characters and confusion comedy. Riotous comical climax gives a fine finish. Over all, an enjoyable youthful entertainer with hummable music.
Geeta Govindam is musically rich. Background score and the songs by Gopi Sundar fills romance in the air that it enhanced the mood of scenes. Cinematography is on par. Director Parasuram is successful with entertainment quotient but the film lacks the emotional connect as much as intended. Some witty dialogues and double entendres worked big.
Vijay Deverakonda plays subtle and submissive. The variation between what he appears to be and what he’s at heart is made palpable through his performance. He is upto the mark at attempting a different diction. Rashmika Mandanna delivers a terrific performance. She’s demonstrative of emotions from being cheeky to dissemination of warmth. Vennela Kishore and Rahul Ramakrishna’s comedy is a compliment.
Bottom-line: “Geetha Govindam – Rollicking romantic ride”
Cast: Vijay Deverakonda, Rashmika Mandanna, Vennela Kishore, Rahul Ramakrishna
Music: Gopi Sundar
Producer: Bunny Vas
